In a world of female fashion bloggers, let's jump on the other side of the river

All you need is an Internet connection and a dream. There's never been an easier time for the common people to grab at that slice of 15 minutes than right now.

It’s also a fashion-blogs time, so if you own a D-whateva-Nikon, a capacious-enough bag and you’re a pretty girl, well, you’ll rule the web world.

From the web pioneer Diane Pernet to the well-known french missy Garance Dorè, to “our” italian Chiara Ferragni (the “IT” Girl of the Italian fashion system), fashion blogosphere is mainly about women.

They are all WWW-ell known and loved and imitated by a very huge crowd around the globe.

However, in the past few years, the blogosphere’s increasing its democracy.

A bunch of urban gentlemen - headed by web superstars such as The Sartorialist Scott Schuman and Face Hunter Yvan Rodic - have started hitting the fashion web scene, exposing their point of view on the unknown people’s street style.

But it’s only with the huber famous BryanBoy (by now one of the 9 hottest celebrities on the web, New York Post says) that the camera changes its target and focus on the blogger himself.

 

So we had the chance, a while ago, to chat with Maurizio Muller, who is very young, very stylish and very much followed (his Mau Fashion is under record of visits every day).

Right from Moers, north-west Germany (not exactly London, uh?), this 18 years old is the outsider-new-comer turned hyped-male-name of the fashionsphere, even thanks to his eclectic style and fancytude (if you missed his short video shot in NYC by his friend Chiara Ferragni while he’s singing and hitting off Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” inside an hotel’s room shower, please help yourself and check it out).

With “Kaiser Karl”(Lagerfeld) as an icon, the half Italian/half German rising star Mau is the guy everyone would like as a close friend: he is funny, he has a great sense of style, he won’t never rock that jupe better than you do and he’s obsessed with shoes and SATC 1-2.. how could you ask for more?

 

LS: Hi Mau! This morning you woke up and..?
I woke up, feeling totally wasted because I wrote so many texts for the next week and in the night some friends called me, haha! I looked horrible but after a shower the whole world looked different!

LS: Tell us something about you which is very tipical of you, that no one else on the net knows..
Sometimes my mind changes from one minute to the next. One minute I feel like going out, partying the whole night and one minute later I feel like staying home and sleeping the whole night. Sleeping is actually so nice and I love that the first questions talk about sleeping, haha!

LS: In moments of weakness you..:

 I fake being superconfident and wear my sunglasses! ;)

LS: Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
I love so many people who are into fashion.. Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs or Alexander Wang...Bloggers as Garance Dore, Bryanboy, Scott Schuman, Tavi or Chiara Ferragni.
So many people inspire me! But my biggest inspiration is the regular life. All the colors I see, the scents I smell, the sounds I hear.. everything can inspire me!

LS: Describe your style.
I try to combine different things and I try to create my own language with clothes. Even if it's not easy..I always have to wear women shoes because I have a size 38 and most of the men shoes start at a 41. Then again I'm 1.63m and weight 48kg ! I'm too skinny for so many things!

LS:  First designer item you ever bought?
A Calvin Klein training suit at the age of 5! I was so proud, haha!
My favorite is my Marc Jacobs ring I bought in New York!

LS: Let’s talk about MAU FASHION. What appeals to you about blogging, and how often do you post and why?
I try to post every day. I want to share something with my readers and some of them get pretty mean if I don't post anything for 1 or 2 days.. but I mean it's not my job to post.. it's just a hobby! At least till now!

LS: How did you get started blogging and what do you wish you’d known back then?
I actually started blogging because I really like some of the women's blogs and I thought there was something missing for my gender! So I wanted to create a space that informs about my view on fashion !


LS: Lindestore.com is famous for its attention to new designers: who are your favorite emerging designers and what is it that you love about them?
I love Arrondissement AQ1 ! You really need to check it out, most of all because it's a very very new brand ! I also adore Michael Sontag, Perret Schaad and many other very recent labels! All of them are German, by the way!


LS: What are your upcoming projects?
Some interviews, different fashionweeks in metropolises such as Copenhagen, Paris and Milan and some publications in other magazines!

LS: Your challenge/goal for 2011?
Being good at school and maybe more success with blogging! :)
 
LS: Finally, what’s the one question you wish people asked you but you’ve never had the opportunity to answer?

As Lady Gaga said in an interview : ''How are you today?''
And the answer is, I'm fine. I'm visiting my family and having a wonderful time!
